Laser hair removal works on the principle of selective photothermolysis — the laser emits a precise wavelength of light that is absorbed by melanin (the pigment) in the hair follicle. The absorbed energy converts to heat, which damages the follicle and inhibits future growth — without harming the surrounding skin. Because hair grows in cycles, multiple sessions are required to treat follicles in their active growth phase (anagen). Each session progressively reduces the number of active follicles, resulting in permanent hair reduction over the course of a full treatment protocol.

Preparation
The area is cleansed and shaved. Protective eyewear is provided. The DCD cooling system is calibrated for your comfort level.

The handpiece is passed over the treatment area, delivering precise laser pulses. Most sessions take 15–60 minutes depending on the area.

Mild redness or warmth is normal and resolves within hours. SPF is applied and sun exposure is avoided for 48 hours post-treatment.

Does it hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as a quick snap or warmth. The GentleMax Pro's built-in Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) sprays cryogen before each pulse, making treatments significantly more comfortable than older laser systems.
How many sessions do I need?
Most clients achieve 80–90% permanent hair reduction in 6–8 sessions. Hormonal areas (chin, upper lip, bikini) may require additional maintenance sessions.
Is it safe for dark skin?
Yes. The 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength is specifically designed for darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) and bypasses surface melanin to target the follicle safely.
How do I prepare?
Shave the area 24 hours before your appointment. Avoid sun exposure, tanning, and retinoids for at least 2 weeks prior. Do not wax or pluck — the hair root must be intact.
What is the downtime?
There is virtually no downtime. Some clients experience mild redness or follicular swelling for a few hours. You can return to normal activities immediately.
